Yesterday, Mom, Dad, Chelsey, Bryan, Callie, Reed & I headed up to Jackson Hole to the National Elk Refuge. It was a beautiful day, cold though. I think it took an hour or so for our toes to thaw out. Usually there are more elk, but they haven't gotten very much snow this season, so the elk haven't come down the mountain in enormous numbers just yet. We got to see a pair of bulls sparring, trumpeter swans flying overhead and the resident "head bull" named Tom Broke-off. (he has a broken antler.) In addition to the mouse refuge (really just a square of test prarie to show the effect elk have on the valley) we rode in wagons with padded seats pulled by two Clydesdales named Don and Doc. The sleighs weren't in working order because of the low snowfall. Afterwards, we hit a diner called Billy's and even though we waited a horrendous amount of time for our burgers and waffle fries, they were well worth it. Very delish! We missed everyone that couldn't come and hopefully we can do something like this when the family is all together again. Whenever that may be!

p.s. the video of the sparring elk is pending. still trying to get it uploaded.
