Christmas at the Hickmans

Last Saturday, we got up early and tromped over to Home Depot to get our tree. It was cold and there was rain/snow falling -- I think the technical weather term is "wintry mix." But we were determined to get our tree. By the time we got the tree home, it was snowing big, wet flakes. There were warnings on the radio about the "storm" that could drop "up to 4 inches" -- I still laugh at the timidity of Easterners when it comes to weather.


I wanted to have a really classy looking tree, because our living room is pretty formal. We bought white lights and ornaments at Home Depot, and we planned to decorate the tree Sunday afternoon. Much to my surprise, when we opened the white lights on Sunday, they were net lights, intended for outside bushes. No good for an indoor tree. So we made a trip to Target on Monday night after work, only to discover that they were completely sold out of white lights. I couldn't believe it. So, we settled for multicolored.

We found this giant poinsettia at Home Depot too. What a wonderful store.

In case you can't tell, there is garland wrapped around the banister, and our stockings are hanging. We already had the garland and white lights for the banister, so we didn't face the same multicolored light problem we had with the tree.
